Class Dojo
What is Class Dojo?
Class Dojo is a school communication platform that teachers, students, and families use every day to build close-knit communities by sharing what’s being learned in the classroom home through photos, videos, and messages.
Features:
Portfolios
ClassDojo Portfolios are digital student portfolios that allow students to share classwork with their teachers and family. Teachers can also assign projects directly to students. Teachers can view and approve student work on Portfolios. Students can create and upload photos, videos, drawings through ClassDojo, and can also upload Microsoft Office files, PDFs, and image files from any laptop devices to which students can respond. Parents and teachers can leave positive feedback in the form of a like and/or comments.
At St. Philip’s we mainly use this feature within Early Years to document children’s learning and share this with their families.
Stories
Stories are instantly updating streams of messages, pictures and videos similar to a X-style timeline. Every class and school has their own Story, all of which are shared home with parents. School Story helps teachers to share with all families connected to their school while Class Story helps teachers to share with all families connected to their class.
At St. Philip’s we use the School Story to share important reminders as well as using our e-mail platform Parent Mail.
Messages
Messages allow teachers and families to message each other, without needing to share phone numbers or contact details. Staff will aim to respond to any messages from parents within 48 hours. Messages sent out of hours will not be seen by the teacher until the next working day.
Please keep in mind that important information for example, absences, changes to who is collecting your child, absences or any important information that the staff need to be alerted to need to be communicated through the school office.
It is also important to know that staff are also unlikely to respond to messages throughout the school day as their focus will be whole class teaching.
Dojo Points
Teachers use Class Dojo to encourage positive behaviour in the classroom. Each child has a unique monster avatar, and teachers can award Dojo points for actions that reflect our school values. Pupils may also receive St. Philip’s Star Dojos for making excellent behaviour choices.
