Welcome to St. Philip’s Primary
ONLY THOSE WHO DARE TO FAIL GREATLY CAN EVER ACHIEVE GREATLY  Robert F Kennedy

Year 6

Welcome all mathematicians, authors, scientists, computer programmers, historians, artists, musicians, athletes, geographers, designers, and linguists!  What an exciting and exhilarating year lies ahead.  We ask that you turn up to school each day with a 'can do' attitude, a kind heart and that you leave your fear of failure at the door!  Do this and we guarantee that you will achieve your potential, have lots of fun and create lots of memories along the way.

We LOVE books in Year 6 and we like to hear about what you have enjoyed reading.  Complete a book review, or a book recommendation book mark, and place it in our reading den for others to see; spread the word if you have come across a good book!

Take a look at our Parent Planner to give you a glimpse of what learning challenges lie ahead of us this term

CRACKING CHEMISTS

As part of our enterprise project, Year 6 explored what made the fizz in bath bombs.  They discovered it was the chemical reaction between acids and alkalis. Using red cabbage universal indicator, Year 6 tested the PH levels of a range of substances.  Take a look at the chemists in action!

2015/16

A visit to a local nursery to choose plants for our outdoor learning area.

Brightening up our outdoor area.

Planting our carrot and radish seeds...

Following our topic on the transatlantic slave trade, Year 6 visited the Liverpool Slavery Museum where they explored slavery further. They also took part in a workshop on human rights and learned about some of the brave and inspirational people, past and present, who have worked tirelessly to campaign for the human rights of others. Take a look at our pictures.

On our class wish list was to work in a 'real science lab' and the teachers at Canon Slade CE High School made this come true! Take a look at the pictures to see us as brilliant biologists and cracking chemists...
