Welcome to St. Philip’s Primary

Year 3A

How did the Victorian period help to shape the Atherton we know today?

When was the Victorian period?       Are there any Victorian buildings in Atherton?    What jobs did children do during the Victorian period?

Welcome back Year 3.This half term we are going to take a closer look at our home town of Atherton. We are going to visit Quarry Bank Mill to discover what life was like for Victorian children. In science we are going to investigate why we can't pick up our shadow and observe what happens to a shadow during the day. Remember to go and take a look in our new school library. There are lots of great books in there which you can take out and take home. Just ask our wonderful library assistants if you need any help.

Things to remember in Year 3

In Year 3 our P.E. day is Wednesday . We do ask that you leave P.E. kits in school and we will ensure that they are sent home each half-term to be washed.

This half term we will be doing dance, so you will only need your indoor P.E. kit.

Swimming will take place throughout the school year and will take place each Thursday afternoon.

In Year 3 your homework will involve:

  • Daily reading
  • Weekly Spellings
  • Multiplication facts (including division facts)
  • English HWK
  • Numeracy HWK
  • Project HWK
Reading Books

Our reading books will be changed on Wednesday. You should bring your planners and reading books to school everyday. Please also read at least 5 pages every night.

This year we are also lucky to have access to the 'Bug Club'. You will shortly receive an individual login that your child can use to access reading books online.

Year 3 weekly spelling tests are administrated on a Monday.
