St. Philip’s is an Aided, Church of England Co-educational Primary School, catering for the needs of children from the ages of 4 to 11. The school was inspected by Ofsted in January 2009 and was graded as ‘Outstanding’ in all categories. Copies of the report can be obtained from the school office or the Ofsted site.
The purpose of this site is to answer as many of your questions as we can and so ensure that your children settle quickly and easily into their new school routines. We deliver a well-researched, balanced and creative curriculum with experienced staff trained to a high level. In addition to gaining language, mathematical, scientific and technological skills, your child will build confidence, develop self-reliance, learn to make decisions and develop the ability to articulate feelings and ideas. At St. Philip’s, we also attach great importance to the development of the children’s spiritual and moral values. These, together with the development of their social skills, will enable them to build relationships with other children and with adults and to be sensitive to the needs and feelings of others. We have developed a reputation within our community for establishing a secure, caring and industrious environment, in which children can achieve their full potential and have strong church/school links. We work hard to ensure that all our children acquire a high level of self-esteem and knowledge of themselves. Our latest Church Schools Inspection in March 2014 considered us to be ‘Outstanding’ in every category.
We believe that your involvement in a partnership with the school is crucial. We will provide frequent opportunities for you to be kept informed and involved in of all aspects of your child’s life in school. We are keen to have parental involvement at all levels and if you have time to spare to come into school and work with us, then you will be made very welcome. Childhood, we would all agree, is a very special time and no-one passes this way again. You may rely on us to do our utmost to make that time as joyous and productive as we can for your child. We look forward to a happy and trusting partnership between your home and our school.

A welcome message from the Chair of Governors
Dear Parents and Friends,
As the newly appointed Chair of Governors and on behalf of the Governing Body of this Outstanding school, I would like to extend a warm welcome to you and your family.
Your interest in our school is well founded, the commitment and dedication provided to each and every child from our excellent team of staff is exemplary and something of which we are immensely proud of. The staff work tirelessly to ensure that our children are happy, safe and flourish within an inspiring and exciting environment. Their enthusiasm and passion for teaching is passed on through to your child encouraging them to achieve their best and reach their full potential.
As a Church of England school our Christian ethos is at the forefront of all we do. Our school motto is “Together We Achieve” and this is the foundation block of our success. By working together and forging those strong links between Church, School and Home these three crucial elements underpin your child’s development – emotionally, spiritually, and educationally. We actively encourage parental involvement during your child’s time with us at St Philip’s, not only does this help in your child’s learning, it also helps to build relationships between home and school which in turn brings its own rewards in making the St Philip’s family stronger.
Our Governing Body members have a diverse range of skills which ensures the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and all school personnel are encouraged and supported in meeting their objectives and that planning for the future of St Philip’s is both visionary and realistic. We believe that every child matters and he/she should have access to an enriched education and the opportunities they deserve.
My involvement with St Philip’s has spanned the past eight years from when both of my children joined the school, and I am sure like you, making the right choice of primary school for your child is as important to you now as it was to me then. In choosing St Philip’s you can be assured that your child’s early years will be a happy and rewarding experience.
I am sure that you will find all of the relevant information you need within the school website, and I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible at our various school events held throughout the year.
